MSc Global Health
Örebro University
Course Overview
Örebro University's MSc in Global Health is an English-taught, interdisciplinary programme examining the social, environmental, and systemic determinants of health across populations — epidemiology and biostatistics, health-systems strengthening, global-health policy, infectious and non-communicable disease, and the equity dimensions of health. Örebro is home to a growing medical school and Sweden's respected public-health research environment, and the programme draws an international cohort working on the health challenges shared by high- and low-income countries alike. It is designed for both clinical and non-clinical graduates who want to work in the global-health field.
For Sri Lankan applicants — clinicians, nurses, biomedical scientists, or public-health and social-science graduates — this degree is a route into international health organisations, NGOs, and research at Swedish fees well below UK or US equivalents. Graduates from Colombo, Peradeniya, Ruhuna, Kelaniya, or Rajarata medical and allied-health faculties are well matched. Sweden's 12-month post-study residence permit to seek work, and the global-health field's demand for South-Asian-context expertise, make it valuable both abroad and for Sri Lanka's own health system.

Career Outcomes & PR
Sweden allows graduates up to 12 months to seek work after study, with a skilled-worker route to permanent residence. Örebro global-health graduates work with the WHO and UN agencies, international NGOs, public-health authorities, health-research institutes, and consultancies across Europe — or return to Sri Lanka's Ministry of Health, epidemiology units, and development-sector health programmes. The interdisciplinary, equity-focused training is highly valued in the global-health job market.
