MSc Public Health Sciences
Karolinska Institutet
Course Overview
Karolinska Institutet is the medical university that awards the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine and consistently ranks among the world's top medical schools (top 10 globally for medicine). Its two-year MSc Public Health Sciences is taught 100% in English and is one of Europe's most rigorous public-health Master's, with strong tracks in epidemiology, health promotion, and health economics, policy and management. Sri Lankan applicants — typically medical, nursing, science or health-sciences graduates from Colombo, Peradeniya, Kelaniya, Rajarata or SLIIT — use it to move into epidemiology, global health and health-systems careers.
The 120-ECTS curriculum covers epidemiology and biostatistics, social determinants of health, health systems and economics, and a substantial research thesis often linked to Karolinska's global-health collaborations in South Asia and Africa. Stockholm's cluster of WHO-linked institutions and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) gives students access to live public-health research. Sweden's post-study residence permit lets graduates job-search after completion.
