Course Overview
Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) is one of France's top research universities and a member of the elite IDEX initiative, ranked among the world's best for computer science and mathematics. Its English-taught MSc Data Science combines rigorous statistical learning, optimisation, and large-scale data engineering with strong ties to Grenoble's exceptional research ecosystem — the university sits alongside Inria, CEA, and a cluster of deep-tech companies that make the city France's leading science-and-technology hub outside Paris. English Proficiency
- check_circle IELTS Academic: 6.5 Overall for the English-taught track.
- check_circle TOEFL iBT: 90 Overall.
- check_circle French A2-B1 is helpful for daily life and some internships but not required for the English track.
- check_circle Waived if your prior degree was taught and examined entirely in English — Sri Lankan applicants from English-medium programmes qualify with an MOI letter.

Career Outcomes & PR
France grants the APS (Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour) — a 12-month, renewable post-study residence permit to seek work or start a business, converting to a Talent Passport once employed. Grenoble data-science graduates work at STMicroelectronics, Schneider Electric, Inria/CEA research, Capgemini, and a deep-tech and AI start-up scene, plus internships that frequently convert to offers. Data-scientist salaries in France run €40,000-50,000 for graduates. AI and data roles are a priority skilled category.
