MSc Computer Science (Data Analytics)
University of Galway
Course Overview
University of Galway's MSc Computer Science (Data Analytics) is a one-year conversion / specialist master's delivered through the School of Computer Science. The programme is closely linked to the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics — one of Ireland's flagship Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) centres, headquartered partly at Galway — giving students access to applied research projects with Insight's industry partners (HP Inc., Liberty IT, Cisco, IBM Research Ireland).
Sri Lankan applicants from CS / IT / engineering / quantitative backgrounds use the Galway MSc as a fast (12-month) route into the Irish tech ecosystem. Galway city is one of Europe's fastest-growing tech and medtech corridors — Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Cisco, HP Inc., Avaya, Genesys, Fidelity Investments, and SAP all operate large engineering campuses in and around Galway. The 90-ECTS curriculum covers machine learning, data mining, big data systems, web data, statistical methods, programming for data analytics, and a 30-credit applied master's project (often industry-sponsored).
