MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Imperial College London
Course Overview
Imperial College London's MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering is the flagship 4-year integrated Master's of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering — ranked top 10 globally for Electrical Engineering (QS by Subject) and IET-accredited for full Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. The programme structure runs core EEE through Years 1-2, with deepening specialisations from Year 3 in areas like control systems, power and energy systems, communications, integrated circuits, and signal processing. The Year 4 Master's-level project is typically completed in partnership with industry — recent partners include Arm, Dyson, BAE Systems, Renishaw, and Imperial spinouts.
Sri Lankan applicants choose Imperial EEE because the 4-year integrated MEng combines undergraduate + Master's-level credentials in a single 4-year window — saving roughly 1 year and £15,000 versus a separate 3+1 route — while also being eligible for the 2-year UK Graduate Route on completion. The IET accreditation routes directly into Sri Lanka's Institute of Engineers (IESL) Chartered Engineer pathway for returnees. Imperial graduates dominate UK electrical engineering and high-tech startup hiring (Arm, Renishaw, Octopus Energy, Wayve, Quantinuum).
