Course Overview
SUTD's MEng in Design Innovation is a 12-month coursework master's run jointly with MIT's International Design Centre. Sri Lankan engineering graduates aiming for product management, design strategy or technical entrepreneurship roles get a focused blend of design thinking, systems engineering and venture-building, taught by faculty who split time between SUTD and MIT.
The program runs full-time across 3 terms, with a capstone Innovation Project where teams develop and pitch a new product or venture. Cohort sizes are small (typically 20-30 students) and electives include AI for Design, Sustainable Innovation, and Digital Manufacturing.

MEng Design Innovation alumni move into product management, design consulting and venture roles at IDEO, Continental, Shopee, Grab, GovTech Singapore, Frog Design, and SUTD-incubated startups. Singapore's Employment Pass route is straightforward post-graduation — the typical EP threshold is well within reach of design innovation salaries. A handful of graduates each year launch their own ventures via SUTD's venture support programs.
