Master of Engineering Studies (Civil)
University of Auckland
Course Overview
The Master of Engineering Studies (MEngSt) in Civil Engineering at the University of Auckland is a 120-point, one-year taught program in the Faculty of Engineering — Sri Lanka's most direct route into structural, geotechnical, transport, water resources or earthquake engineering at a Washington Accord-accredited NZ school. Coursework-heavy with a small directed-study project, rather than a full research thesis.
New Zealand's infrastructure pipeline is unusually deep right now: the Auckland City Rail Link, Watercare three-waters reform, post-cyclone Hawke's Bay rebuild and the national seismic retrofit programme are all backed by multi-year funding. Graduates work into firms like Beca, Aurecon, WSP, Tonkin + Taylor and Fletcher Construction, with Civil Engineer on the Green List for fast-tracked residency.
