Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering
University of Canterbury
Course Overview
The Master of Engineering at UC is a research-based 180-point qualification specialising in civil engineering — structural, earthquake, geotechnical, water resources or transportation engineering. Around two-thirds of the programme is an independent research thesis supervised by faculty from the Quake Centre and the Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering.
Sri Lankan engineers join a cohort that includes both fresh BE(Hons) graduates and working professionals returning for specialisation. UC's earthquake engineering group is internationally recognised — particularly relevant for graduates planning to work on seismic retrofitting projects in South Asia after returning home.
