Course Overview
Melbourne's Master of Engineering (Civil) is an Engineers Australia-accredited program designed for graduates of any Bachelor's degree — including non-engineering disciplines — who want to qualify as a professional engineer in Australia. Sri Lankan students with a B.Sc. in mathematics, physics, or even a related engineering field can enter the 3-year track, while those with an undergraduate civil background may complete it in 2 years.
The curriculum covers structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, transport systems, water resources, and sustainable infrastructure, with a year-long capstone industry project. Civil Engineer (ANZSCO 233211) is on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List, making graduates eligible for Skilled Independent (subclass 189) and Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) PR visas.
