BSc in International Politics and Government
Bocconi University
Course Overview
Bocconi's BSc in International Politics and Government (BIG) is a three-year English-taught degree designed for students aiming at diplomacy, international organisations, policy think tanks, or the political-risk arms of consulting and finance. The curriculum mixes political science and international relations with serious doses of economics and quantitative methods — a Bocconi signature that sets graduates apart from purely qualitative IR degrees.
Sri Lankan A/Ls students with strong English and an interest in foreign affairs or public policy fit this programme well. Bocconi's career office is unusually strong for a non-business degree: BIG students intern at the UN, the EU institutions, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Farnesina), McKinsey's public sector practice, and increasingly at fintech regulatory teams. A semester abroad — typically at LSE, Sciences Po, Georgetown, or NUS — is part of the standard path.
