Bachelor in International Studies
University of Bologna
Course Overview
The University of Bologna is Europe's oldest continuously-operating university (founded 1088) and remains one of Italy's top-3 institutions. Its Bachelor in International Studies (BIS) is a three-year, fully English-taught programme based at the Forlì campus, designed for students aiming at diplomacy, international organisations, development, or global business with a strong language and history grounding.
The curriculum spans international relations, comparative politics, international economics, modern history, and international law. Students take two foreign languages alongside English and complete a guaranteed semester abroad — Bologna's Erasmus and bilateral network is one of the most extensive in Europe. Tuition follows Italy's ISEE-based progressive system, and a Sri Lankan family with documented modest income often pays €600–€1,500/year rather than the €3,600 ceiling.
