BSc International Business
Maastricht University
Course Overview
Maastricht University's BSc International Business (IB) is the Netherlands' best-known undergraduate business degree, delivered through the School of Business and Economics (SBE) — triple-accredited (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA) and consistently ranked top-100 globally for Business & Management. The programme is taught entirely in English and famously uses Problem-Based Learning (PBL): small tutorial groups of 12-15 students work through real business cases, with the lecturer as facilitator rather than instructor.
Sri Lankan A-Level / IB applicants choose Maastricht because the tuition (€16,000/year for non-EU) is well below UK Russell Group equivalents (£28,000-32,000/year), the international cohort is one of Europe's most diverse (110+ nationalities), and Maastricht's location at the Dutch-Belgian-German tri-border (Brussels 1h, Cologne 1h, Düsseldorf 1.5h) offers exceptional career mobility across Western Europe. Year 1 covers business foundations + economics + organisation theory; Year 2 specialises (finance, marketing, supply chain, info management, accounting); Year 3 includes a semester exchange at one of 90+ partner schools and a bachelor's thesis.
