Course Overview
University of Malta's BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy is delivered through the Faculty of Health Sciences in partnership with Mater Dei Hospital and the Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital. The 4-year programme is accredited by the Council for the Profession of Physiotherapy (Malta) and is European Region World Physiotherapy aligned, opening practice routes across the EU. Clinical placements begin in Year 2 and total roughly 1,000 hours across musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary, paediatric, and community settings.
Sri Lankan applicants choose Malta over UK / Australia physiotherapy programmes for the combination of EU-aligned accreditation, English-medium teaching, and lower tuition (€10,000-€11,000/yr Bachelor's). The curriculum covers anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, exercise prescription, manual therapy, electrotherapy, neuro-rehabilitation, paediatric physiotherapy, and a research dissertation. Physiotherapy graduates qualify for Malta's 6-month post-study job-search residence permit, with conversion to a Single Permit at a qualifying offer. Major Malta employers: Mater Dei Hospital, Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital, plus private clinics across Sliema, St Julian's, and Mosta. Onward EU mobility is straightforward via the European Region of World Physiotherapy. Starting salary €24,000-€30,000.
