BSc Business and Economics
University College Dublin (UCD)
Course Overview
University College Dublin's BSc Business and Economics is delivered through the UCD Lochlann Quinn School of Business / UCD School of Economics — a triple-accredited (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA) joint programme that combines business administration depth with economics rigour. UCD is Ireland's largest university (founded 1854) and consistently ranks top-200 globally, with Smurfit Business School (the graduate-level half) sitting in the global FT MBA top-100.
Sri Lankan A-Level / IB applicants choose UCD over UK options for several reasons: Ireland is English-medium without UK visa restrictions; the EU Blue Card pathway is open after a qualifying graduate-level offer; the 2-year Stay Back / Third Level Graduate Programme allows non-EU graduates to remain in Ireland to find work; and the campus sits in Dublin's tech corridor where Google EMEA, Meta EMEA, Microsoft EMEA, LinkedIn EMEA, Stripe, Salesforce, Workday, and Pfizer EMEA are headquartered. The three-year curriculum covers core business modules (accounting, finance, management, marketing, strategy) alongside economics (micro, macro, econometrics, public policy).
