Course Overview

The BE(Hons) in Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury is a four-year accredited professional degree — the first year (the Engineering Intermediate) sets the maths, physics and design foundations, and Years 2–4 specialise in structural, geotechnical, transportation, water and earthquake engineering. Christchurch's post-2011 rebuild has made UC's seismic-resilience research and lab facilities among the strongest in the southern hemisphere.

Washington Accord–accredited, so the degree is recognised by Engineering Council Sri Lanka (ECSL) and by registration bodies in the UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore and beyond. Sri Lankan students typically pathway through UC International College (UCIC) or enter Year 1 directly with strong A/L Mathematics + Physics + Chemistry results.
