Bachelor of International Tourism and Hotel Management
Griffith University
Course Overview
Griffith University's Department of Tourism, Sport and Hotel Management is ranked #15 globally for Hospitality and Leisure Management in QS World Rankings by Subject — putting it in the top 3 in Australia behind Torrens (BMIHMS) and Monash. The Bachelor of International Tourism and Hotel Management is taught from the Gold Coast and Nathan (Brisbane) campuses. Year 1 builds the operations / service core; Year 2 lets students major in either Tourism Management or Hotel Management; Year 3 includes a 240-hour Work Integrated Learning placement at a Queensland tourism operator.
Sri Lankan applicants choose Griffith because the Gold Coast is a designated regional study area for the 485 visa — graduates can earn an extra year on their post-study work visa (3 years total instead of 2 for a Bachelor). The Gold Coast tourism economy is also Australia's most concentrated — Sea World, Movie World, Wet'n'Wild, dozens of 4-5 star resorts, and the Gold Coast Convention Centre all recruit Griffith students directly into placements.
