Ireland is unusually strict about funds being clearly traceable and tuition being paid before visa decision. The most common Sri Lankan rejection is unexplained bank deposits or a tuition receipt arriving after the visa decision window opens.

Accept your offer at an ILEP-listed Irish HEI.

Pay Year 1 tuition
Transfer tuition directly to the institution and obtain the receipt.

Arrange medical insurance
Take out private Irish-recognised medical insurance for the duration of study.

Apply online via AVATS
Submit the visa application via the ISD Online Application Visa System (AVATS). Pay the visa fee.

Submit documents at VFS Colombo
Print the AVATS summary and submit with supporting documents and biometrics at VFS Global Colombo.

IRP registration
After arrival in Ireland, book an IRP (Irish Residence Permit) appointment at Burgh Quay (Dublin) or local Garda station within 90 days for the Stamp 2 card.

Insufficient funds documentation
Bank statements with unexplained large deposits, or sponsor relationships not clearly established with a notarised affidavit.

Programme not on ILEP
Only HEIs on the Interim List of Eligible Programmes (ILEP) qualify for student visas. Some private colleges are not listed.
