Course Overview

Jönköping University's Supply Chain Operations Management master's is a two-year, 120-credit programme taught in English at the School of Engineering. It leads to a Master of Science with a major in Production Systems, specialisation in Supply Chain Operations Management, and deliberately combines four disciplines: supply chain management, operations management, industrial engineering and work organisation. The first year covers foundations such as operations strategy and sustainable supply-chain development; the second year offers specialised electives, an optional semester at a partner university abroad, and a final degree project, typically with a company.

Jönköping is one of the Nordic region's leading logistics hubs, with major distribution centres for retailers and manufacturers, and JU's engineering school works closely with the region's manufacturers. The programme is an excellent fit for Sri Lankan industrial, mechanical, production and manufacturing engineering graduates from Moratuwa, Peradeniya, Ruhuna, SLIIT or KDU, especially those eyeing the apparel, logistics and export sectors back home. Sweden lets graduates stay up to 12 months after their studies to look for work, and JU scholarships can reduce tuition for selected fee-paying students.

Career Outcomes & PR

Sweden lets non-EU graduates apply for a residence permit of up to 12 months after their studies to look for work or start a business, with a route to a work permit and, over time, permanent residence. Graduates work as operations managers, industrial engineers and supply-chain managers, and can continue to doctoral study. The Jönköping region's distribution centres, Husqvarna's Huskvarna operations and Swedish manufacturers such as Volvo, Scania and SKF all hire supply-chain engineers. Sri Lankan returnees fit supply-chain and operations leadership roles at MAS, Brandix, Hirdaramani, Hayleys, John Keells Logistics and the port and freight-forwarding sector in Colombo.
