MSc in Public Health
University of Galway
Course Overview
University of Galway's MSc in Public Health is delivered through its well-regarded School of Medicine and is a one-year master's that prepares graduates to work in population health, epidemiology, health policy, and health-service planning. Galway has a strong health-research base — including the HRB Clinical Research Facility and major population-health and biostatistics groups — that anchors the programme in current practice.
The curriculum covers epidemiology, biostatistics, health promotion, health-systems and policy, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and global health, finishing with a supervised research dissertation. It suits graduates from health sciences, nursing, medicine, biology, nutrition, social sciences, and related fields who want to move into public-health, NGO, government, or research roles.
For Sri Lankan graduates, Ireland combines an English-speaking, EU-member study destination with a genuinely employable health qualification. The two-year Stamp 1G Third Level Graduate Scheme lets you stay and work after the master's, and public health is an area of ongoing demand across health services, international agencies, and research. The qualification is equally valuable for those returning to Sri Lanka's health-policy and NGO sector.
