MSc International Healthcare Management, Economics and Policy
University of Bologna
Course Overview
Bologna's MSc in International Healthcare Management, Economics and Policy (HEM) is a two-year, English-taught Master's based in the Bologna Business School ecosystem, aimed at applicants who want to combine medical or biological backgrounds with serious health-economics and management tooling. Bologna's Faculty of Medicine sits adjacent to the Sant'Orsola-Malpighi University Hospital (one of Italy's largest), so applied teaching is grounded in real hospital operations.
The curriculum covers health policy, healthcare financing, hospital management, pharmaceutical economics, and global-health governance. Faculty includes World Bank and WHO consultants, and the cohort skews international — Sri Lankan applicants with backgrounds in MBBS, BSc Public Health, BSc Biomedical Sciences, BBA Healthcare Management, or even strong MBA candidates from Sri Lankan med-affiliated employers (Hemas Hospitals, John Keells Healthcare) fit cleanly. The Italian ISEE system applies — low-ISEE families often pay €600–€1,500/year.
