MSc Computer Science
Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin)
Course Overview
TU Berlin's MSc Informatik / Computer Science is one of Germany's largest and most respected CS master's programmes, delivered through the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. TU Berlin ranks top-150 globally for Computer Science (QS subject 2026) and operates Berlin's deepest research network — joint chairs with Fraunhofer FOKUS and HHI (Heinrich-Hertz-Institut for media technology), the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) Berlin lab, and the Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data (BIFOLD). The two-year programme is delivered as a hybrid German/English track — most graduate seminars and research electives are in English, while some compulsory modules remain German-medium.
Specialisation tracks include Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Security, Visual Computing and Data Engineering. Students complete a six-month thesis usually co-supervised with a Berlin research institute or industry partner. Berlin's tech ecosystem is one of Europe's three largest — Zalando, N26, Delivery Hero, HelloFresh, Wayfair, SAP Berlin, Microsoft Berlin, Google Berlin — and most TU Berlin CS master's students intern during the programme. Berlin remains tuition-free at the state level.

- check_circle Letter of motivation outlining research interests (~800 words).
- check_circle Two academic references.
- check_circle CV evidencing programming projects, internships, or research output.
