Course Overview

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is one of the world's leading technical universities and sits at the heart of the Brainport Eindhoven region — Europe's highest-density technology and design cluster. Its English-taught MSc Architecture, Building and Planning is a two-year master's that treats architecture as an engineering and design discipline, with specialisation tracks spanning architectural design, urbanism, building physics and services, structural design, and construction management & engineering.

TU/e's approach is research-driven and technically rigorous, integrating sustainability, computational design, and building technology with design studios. Students choose a specialisation and complete a substantial graduation project, frequently linked to live research or industry challenges in the Brainport ecosystem — a region defined by high-tech manufacturing, smart buildings, and design innovation.

For Sri Lankan architecture and built-environment graduates, the Netherlands combines world-class technical education, full English-medium teaching, and strong value relative to the UK, US, or Australia. The Dutch one-year post-study orientation permit (zoekjaar) lets graduates stay to find work, and the Netherlands' globally influential architecture and urbanism sector offers a launchpad into European practice.
