MS in Bio and Brain Engineering
Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)
Course Overview
KAIST's Department of Bio and Brain Engineering is the country's leading interdisciplinary department bridging neuroscience, biomedical engineering, and computational biology. The MS program covers brain imaging, neural circuit analysis, bioinformatics, biomedical devices, and the rapidly growing brain-machine interface field — exactly the areas where Korean and global hiring is heating up.
Sri Lankan applicants from medicine, biomedical engineering, biotech, computer science, or biology with strong quantitative skills are competitive. The department's collaboration with the Korea Brain Research Institute, Samsung Medical Center, and Asan Medical Center gives students a realistic clinical-translational research environment that's rare to find at this funding level.

Career Outcomes & PR
Graduates progress to KAIST PhD programs (most common path), Samsung Medical Center research divisions, Lunit (medical AI), VUNO, Standigm, and global biotech roles at Genexine and Celltrion. The bio-AI overlap means CS-strong graduates are also picked up by Naver Healthcare AI and Kakao Healthcare. International graduates use the D-10 job-seeker visa and convert to E-7 for specialised biomedical roles.
