MPharm (Master of Pharmacy)
UCL School of Pharmacy
Course Overview
UCL School of Pharmacy is consistently ranked #2 in the UK and top 10 globally for Pharmacy and Pharmacology (QS World Rankings by Subject). The 4-year integrated MPharm is fully accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) — meaning graduates can register as a UK pharmacist after completing the post-degree foundation training year and passing the GPhC registration assessment. The course covers pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutics and drug formulation, pharmacology, pharmacy practice, and clinical pharmacy across 50+ NHS hospital and community placements.
Sri Lankan applicants choose UCL Pharmacy because Pharmacy is on the UK Shortage Occupation List — meaning Skilled Worker sponsorship is straightforward, NHS Trusts actively recruit international graduates, and PR pathways via the Health and Care Worker visa are accelerated. The MPharm is also recognised by the Sri Lanka Medical Council and Sri Lanka Pharmaceutical Council for registration as a pharmacist in Sri Lanka — making it a strong returnee pathway for those wanting to lead community / hospital pharmacy chains like Healthguard, Union Chemists, or take MoH advisory roles.
