Master of Public Health (MPH)
New York University (School of Global Public Health)
Course Overview
NYU's School of Global Public Health (GPH) is one of the newer CEPH-accredited schools in the US but punches well above its weight — situated in Manhattan, with direct teaching ties to NYU Langone Health and Bellevue Hospital. The 46-credit MPH lets Sri Lankan applicants concentrate in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Global Health, Public Health Policy & Management, Public Health Nutrition or Community Health Science & Practice.
GPH is generous with merit aid — in Fall 2025 over two-thirds of the incoming class received a scholarship, with awards up to USD 50,000. The applied practice experience requirement (the MPH practicum) places students at organisations like the WHO, Mount Sinai, NYC Department of Health, and global NGOs — which is unusually strong for early-career Sri Lankan public health professionals.

NYU MPH graduates land at the CDC, WHO regional offices, NYC Department of Health, Mount Sinai, hospital systems, global NGOs and consulting firms like Deloitte's health practice. Median starting salary in the US sits around USD 75,000. With Epidemiology and Biostatistics being STEM-designated concentrations, Sri Lankan students in those tracks unlock the 3-year STEM OPT — the General MPH track gets the standard 12-month OPT.
