Master of Public Health
Harvard University (T.H. Chan School of Public Health)
Course Overview
The Harvard Chan MPH offers two pathways — the 45-credit accelerated MPH for applicants with a doctoral degree (MD, PhD, JD) or substantial public health experience, and the 65-credit two-year MPH for early-career applicants. Five fields of study are available, including Global Health, Epidemiology, and Health Policy. The Chan School is consistently ranked among the top 3 schools of public health globally.
For Sri Lankan doctors, Ministry of Health professionals, and NGO staff, the MPH-45 is the headline route — it compresses the degree into 12 months and is heavily oriented toward applied policy and global health practice. Alumni return to senior roles at the WHO, World Bank, Sri Lankan Ministry of Health, and global health NGOs.

Career Outcomes & PR
MPH graduates are eligible for 12 months of F-1 OPT — Public Health is not STEM-designated so the 24-month STEM extension does not apply. Most Sri Lankan MPH graduates return to senior roles in the Sri Lankan health system or move into global posts at the WHO, UNICEF, CDC, World Bank, and the Gates Foundation.
