Victoria University of Wellington (Te Herenga Waka)
Course Overview
The Master of Information Studies (MIS) at Victoria is New Zealand's only ALA-equivalent graduate qualification accredited for professional library, archives and records work — and is increasingly chosen by Sri Lankan IT graduates moving into data governance, digital curation, knowledge management and information architecture roles. The programme is delivered flexibly: on-campus full-time, part-time, or fully online for students who need to keep working.
Coursework spans information organisation, research methods, digital curation, archives and records management, data analytics, knowledge management and a 30-point research project or work-based dissertation. Graduates qualify for membership of LIANZA (Library and Information Association of NZ Aotearoa), the Archives and Records Association of NZ (ARANZ), and the Knowledge Management Association.
