Course Overview

USC Rossier School of Education's MEd in Educational Leadership is one of the highest-ranked education leadership Master's programmes in the United States — Rossier is consistently top 15 globally for Education (QS Subject 2025) and top 10 in the US (US News). The Los Angeles campus hosts the policy-focused tracks while the school also runs the online iteration (MEd in Learning Design and Technology and MAT online), but the on-campus MEd Educational Leadership is the flagship for school administrators and emerging policy leaders. The one-year programme covers organisational leadership in K-12 and higher education, instructional supervision, education finance, social justice and educational equity, and a capstone leadership project — taught in cohort format with practising LAUSD superintendents and California Department of Education leaders as adjunct faculty.

Sri Lankan applicants from BEd (Open University of Sri Lanka, NIE), BA Education (Colombo, Kelaniya, Peradeniya, J'pura), or 5+ years' teaching/admin background choose USC for the policy network — Rossier's career office places alumni into Teach For All affiliates globally (Teach for Sri Lanka exists), LAUSD principalship pipelines, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation education portfolios, Pearson, and McKinsey Education Practice. STEM-designated this MEd is not (Education sits outside STEM OPT scope), so candidates get 12 months of standard OPT — best used to secure an offer with H-1B sponsor or a Department of Education exchange-visitor (J-1) pathway.
