American University of Malta
Course Overview
American University of Malta (AUM) delivers a US-style 36-credit-hour MBA over 18 months from its Cospicua (Bormla) campus. The programme is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) and follows the typical US MBA core: managerial accounting, corporate finance, marketing management, organisational behaviour, operations and supply chain, business analytics, strategic management, business ethics, plus a portfolio of electives in finance, marketing, or general management, and a capstone consulting / business-plan project. Teaching is in English using US credit-hour conventions.
Sri Lankan applicants with 2-5 years' professional experience who want a US-style MBA at Maltese price points choose AUM. The fee tier (€14,000/yr) is roughly a third of a tier-two US MBA and the EU graduate residence rights apply on completion. Smaller cohorts mean closer faculty access than at the University of Malta. The 6-month post-study residence permit and Malta's low EU Blue Card threshold (~€26,000/yr in 2025) make EU mobility realistic. Returnees route into management trainee, brand manager, and consultant roles at John Keells, Hayleys, MAS, Brandix, Dialog, Hemas, Cargills, Aitken Spence, plus Big Four advisory practices.

Career Outcomes & PR
AUM MBA graduates qualify for Malta's 6-month post-study job-search residence permit, with conversion to a Single Permit at a qualifying offer. Malta's EU Blue Card threshold (~€26,000/yr in 2025) is among the lowest in the EU. Local employment options include iGaming senior management (Betsson, Tipico, Kindred, LeoVegas), HSBC Malta, Bank of Valletta, MeDirect, plus Maltese SMEs and family businesses. Median post-MBA salary €30,000-€45,000. Sri Lankan returnees take Head of / Director / GM roles at John Keells, Hayleys, MAS, Brandix, Dialog, Hemas, Cargills, Aitken Spence, plus consulting and advisory partner-track posts at Big Four Colombo. Smaller cohort (vs University of Malta EMBA) makes peer networks tighter but less diverse.
