MSc Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences
Delft University of Technology (TU Delft)
Course Overview
TU Delft's MSc Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences is ranked top 5 globally for Architecture and Built Environment (QS by Subject) — the highest-ranked architecture faculty in continental Europe and the largest in the world by enrolment. The 2-year MSc is a single programme with four tracks: Architecture, Urbanism, Building Technology, and Management in the Built Environment. The flagship Architecture track allows students to choose from 8 thematic graduation studios (recent: Heritage & Architecture, Public Building, Borders & Territories) and complete a 1-year graduation project as the final deliverable.
Sri Lankan applicants choose TU Delft because the Dutch tuition (€21,000/year) is roughly half of UK postgraduate architecture fees, the programme is fully RIBA Part 2 equivalent for SLIA chartered membership purposes, and the Netherlands offers an exceptional Zoekjaar (Orientation Year) visa — graduates get 12 months to find work, and on a 30% ruling salary path (€41,954+ minimum for Master's graduates under 30), the Netherlands becomes a competitive long-term destination versus the UK. TU Delft Architecture alumni work at OMA, MVRDV, UNStudio, BIG, Mecanoo, and the Adjaye Associates Amsterdam office.
