Middlesex University Dubai
MA Media and Communication
Middlesex University Dubai
Course Overview
Middlesex University Dubai is the UAE branch of London's Middlesex University, awarding the identical UK degree, and its MA Media and Communication is a one-year master's at the Dubai Knowledge Park campus. The programme covers digital media strategy, global communication, audience and platform analytics, media industries and policy, branded content, and a research/major project — equipping graduates for strategy and leadership roles rather than production-floor work. Teaching combines critical media theory with applied, portfolio-building briefs, and Dubai's concentration of regional media headquarters provides live industry exposure.
Sri Lankan graduates with a Bachelor's in Media, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field fit the cohort well, and an English-medium Sri Lankan degree can waive the IELTS requirement via an MOI letter. Dubai is the Middle East's media and advertising capital — home to MBC, OSN, Bloomberg Middle East, and agency networks like Memac Ogilvy and FP7 McCann — and the one-year structure makes this a fast, cost-efficient master's. The UAE Green Visa offers graduates a five-year post-study residency pathway, and Colombo is just a four-hour flight away.
