Course Overview
Erasmus University Rotterdam is a top-100 global university and one of the Netherlands' leading research institutions. Its International Bachelor in Psychology (IBP) is a fully English-taught, three-year degree that covers the breadth of scientific psychology — cognitive, social, developmental, clinical, and work-and-organisational — with a strong grounding in research methods and statistics from the first year.
The programme uses Erasmus's problem-based, small-group teaching model and gives students the chance to specialise in their third year across tracks such as Clinical, Social & Organisational, or Brain & Cognition psychology. Rotterdam is a young, international, English-friendly city, and the degree is designed for a globally mobile cohort — most teaching, assessment, and student life happens in English.
For Sri Lankan students, a Dutch research bachelor offers excellent value: tuition for the IBP is well below comparable UK, US, or Australian psychology degrees, the qualification is internationally recognised, and the Netherlands offers a one-year post-study 'orientation year' (zoekjaar) residence permit to find work after graduation. The degree is a strong foundation for a master's in clinical, organisational, or research psychology in the Netherlands or elsewhere.

Academic

- check_circle The IBP is a Numerus Fixus (capped, selective) programme — admission is by a selection procedure, not first-come-first-served, so the January deadline is strict.

English Proficiency
- check_circle IELTS Academic: 6.5 Overall with at least 6.0 in writing.
- check_circle TOEFL iBT: 90 Overall with at least 21 in writing.

IBP graduates progress to master's study in clinical, organisational, social, or research psychology, and into roles in HR and people analytics, market and UX research, public health and policy, and the wider social sector. The Netherlands' one-year orientation-year permit lets graduates stay to find work, and the English-taught, internationally recognised degree travels well across the EU and back to Sri Lanka's growing applied-psychology and HR fields.
