BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult)
King's College London
Course Overview
King's College London's BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) is delivered by the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care — the world's oldest professional nursing school and consistently ranked No. 1 globally for nursing by QS. The three-year programme is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), with 50% of learning in clinical placements across King's Health Partners hospitals (Guy's, St Thomas', King's College Hospital). On successful completion, graduates are eligible to register as a Registered Nurse (Adult) with the NMC — the UK professional registration that also underpins recognition routes overseas.
Sri Lankan applicants with strong A-Level / science backgrounds — and many qualified nurses or biomedical-science graduates from Colombo, Peradeniya, KDU, and the nursing schools — choose King's for its global nursing reputation and the clear NMC registration pathway. The UK faces a sustained nursing shortage, so demand for graduates is strong. Graduates qualify for the UK Graduate Route (2-year post-study work visa), with most moving straight into NHS Band 5 staff-nurse posts; the Health and Care Worker visa offers a longer-term route. Returnees with NMC registration command senior roles at Lanka Hospitals, Nawaloka, Asiri Group, Durdans, and Hemas Hospitals, plus teaching posts in Sri Lankan nursing education.
