EHL Hospitality Business School (Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne)
BSc International Hospitality Management
EHL Hospitality Business School (Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne)
Course Overview
EHL Lausanne is ranked the #1 hospitality and leisure management school in the world by QS World University Rankings by Subject — a position it has held for 7 consecutive years. Founded in 1893, it is the original hotel school: every other hospitality programme in the world is, in some sense, modelled on EHL. The BSc International Hospitality Management is a 4-year degree taught on the historic Lausanne campus above Lake Geneva, with intakes in February and September. The first semester is the Preparatory Year — a hands-on operational immersion in kitchens, restaurants, housekeeping and front office where students wear the uniform and run the campus's real teaching restaurants.
Sri Lankan applicants choose EHL because the alumni network is uniquely powerful — Cinnamon Hotels, Aitken Spence, Shangri-La Colombo, Anantara, Atlantis Dubai, Marriott and Four Seasons all actively recruit EHL graduates. Two paid 6-month internships (one operational, one managerial) are built into the degree — students typically earn CHF 2,200/month (LKR 814,000) gross during these placements, partially offsetting tuition.

Career Outcomes & PR
Swiss post-study options are tighter than UK/AU — graduates have 6 months to find work and need a salary above CHF 60,000 to convert to a B work permit. Most EHL grads instead take roles in Dubai, Singapore, London, or back in Sri Lanka with Cinnamon, Shangri-La, Anantara, or Mandarin Oriental. Median starting salary across the EHL graduating class: CHF 55,000 (LKR 20.3M/yr). 96% employment within 3 months.
