BSc Industrial Engineering and Management
Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin)
Course Overview
TU Berlin's BSc Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen (Industrial Engineering and Management) is one of Germany's largest and most respected undergraduate degrees combining engineering and business — a deeply German pedagogical tradition. The three-year programme is delivered primarily in German, with English-medium electives available from year two. Students take a roughly 50/50 split between an engineering specialisation (Mechanical, Electrical, Construction, or Energy & Process Engineering) and business modules covering microeconomics, finance, operations research, statistics, accounting and management.
Berlin is one of Europe's three biggest tech-and-industry hubs, with Siemens' historical home, the Berlin Volkswagen plant, Mercedes-Benz Berlin, plus a vast startup ecosystem (Zalando, N26, Delivery Hero, HelloFresh, SAP Berlin). TU Berlin operates the city's tightest industry-research network through Fraunhofer institutes and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Sri Lankan applicants from Combined Maths streams pair this degree with a Studienkolleg T-Kurs year, then enter directly. Berlin remains tuition-free at the state level.
