BSc Environmental Earth Systems Science
Nanyang Technological University
Course Overview
NTU's BSc Environmental Earth Systems Science (EESS) is housed at the Asian School of the Environment — Singapore's flagship interdisciplinary earth and environment programme, ranked top 30 globally for Earth & Environmental Science (QS 2025). NTU itself sits at #15 globally and #2 in Asia. The four-year programme combines deep earth-systems science (climatology, geophysics, ecology, oceanography) with policy, economics, and Asian environmental governance.
The Asian School of the Environment is co-located with NTU's Earth Observatory of Singapore (Singapore's NSF-funded geohazards research centre) and the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology — giving undergraduates access to research-active faculty publishing in Nature, Science, and PNAS. Fieldwork is embedded — recent cohorts have done field schools in Indonesia (volcanology), Borneo (rainforest ecology), Vietnam (delta hydrology), and the Maldives (coral reef monitoring).
For Sri Lankan applicants from Bioscience or Physical Science A/L streams interested in climate, environment, or sustainability careers, this is one of the most cost-effective top-50 global degrees in the field. Singapore's Employment Pass pathway plus the regional sustainability hiring boom (DBS sustainable finance, GIC ESG, Temasek climate, MAS Green Finance, plus Shell, BP, Glencore Singapore HQs) creates a strong post-graduation runway.
