BSc in Computer Science and Engineering
Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e)
Course Overview
TU Eindhoven's BSc in Computer Science and Engineering is delivered through the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science — Netherlands' youngest technical university (founded 1956) but consistently ranked in the global top-100 for Computer Science (QS, US News). TU/e's location in Eindhoven is exceptional: the city is the headquarters of ASML (the world's only EUV lithography manufacturer, supplier to TSMC, Intel, Samsung), NXP Semiconductors, Signify (formerly Philips Lighting), Vanderlande, Prodrive Technologies, and DAF Trucks — collectively the densest deep-tech corporate cluster in Europe (the "Brainport Eindhoven" region). The 3-year BSc covers algorithms and data structures, computer architecture, programming languages, software engineering, AI/ML, data engineering, computer networks, formal methods, and security. Students complete a 10-week internship at one of TU/e's industry partners — placements at ASML, NXP, Philips, and Signify are common.
Sri Lankan applicants choose TU Eindhoven over UK / US CS programmes because the Dutch tuition (€13,000/year for non-EU undergrads) is roughly 25% of UK Russell Group equivalents (£32,000+) and well below US public universities (USD 35,000+/year out-of-state), the English-medium teaching means no Dutch language requirement, and the industry placement opportunities at ASML alone are world-class. The Netherlands' 12-month Zoekjaar (Orientation Year) visa on graduation, plus the Highly Skilled Migrant Permit for graduate-level employment at €41,954+/year (Master's-graduate threshold), make TU/e-to-EU residence a clear pathway. Sri Lankan returnees route into senior software engineering positions at WSO2, IFS R&D, Virtusa, MillenniumIT (LSEG Tech), 99X, Sysco LABS, Mitra Innovation, Dialog Axiata, the Lanka AI Hub, plus into European semiconductor and embedded systems R&D roles.

Career Outcomes & PR
Eligible for the 12-month Dutch Zoekjaar (Orientation Year) job-search visa on graduation, with conversion to Highly Skilled Migrant Permit at the Bachelor's-graduate salary threshold (€30,001+/year). TU/e BSc CSE grads are heavily recruited by ASML (Veldhoven HQ — TU/e is the #1 talent feeder for ASML's worldwide engineering organisation), NXP Semiconductors, Signify (Philips Lighting), Vanderlande, Prodrive Technologies, plus Booking.com Amsterdam, Adyen Amsterdam, Microsoft Netherlands, and the European tech hubs of Google, Meta, and Amazon in Dublin / Munich / London — €38,000-€55,000 starting + 30% tax ruling for the first 5 years if salary exceeds €33,624 (Bachelor's threshold under 30) (LKR 13M-19M/yr net; the 30% ruling makes Dutch take-home pay competitive with UK net salaries). Sri Lankan returnees route into senior software engineering roles at WSO2, IFS R&D, Virtusa, MillenniumIT (LSEG Tech), 99X, Sysco LABS, Mitra Innovation, Dialog Axiata, the Lanka AI Hub, plus into European semiconductor and embedded systems R&D adjacency.
