BPsy (Hons) Psychology
University of Malta
Course Overview
University of Malta's BPsy (Hons) Psychology is delivered through the Department of Psychology within the Faculty for Social Wellbeing. The 3-year programme is recognised as the entry qualification for further professional training (Master in Psychology, Master in Counselling Psychology, Doctorate in Clinical Psychology) leading to registration with the Maltese Psychology Profession Board. All teaching is in English. The curriculum covers cognitive psychology, biological psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, abnormal psychology, statistics and research methods, qualitative methods, and a Year 3 dissertation.
Sri Lankan A-Level applicants from Arts, Commerce, or Biological Science streams choose Malta psychology for the European-recognised qualification, English-medium teaching, and lower fee tier (€9,000/yr Bachelor's) compared to UK / Australia equivalents. The Bachelor's alone does not confer practising psychologist status in Sri Lanka or Malta — Master's-level training is required. Returnees route into research and applied roles at the Sri Lanka College of Psychiatrists supporting team, the National Institute of Mental Health, Shanthi Maargam, Sumithrayo, Family Counselling Services, school counselling at international and private schools, and HR / talent assessment at John Keells, Hayleys, MAS, and Brandix.
