BEng Civil Engineering
TU Dublin
Course Overview
TU Dublin is Ireland's first and largest technological university, and its BEng (Honours) in Civil Engineering is a professionally accredited degree — recognised by Engineers Ireland and, through the Washington/Sydney Accords, internationally portable — covering structural analysis, geotechnics, water and environmental engineering, transportation, and construction management. The programme is defined by hands-on laboratory work, design projects, and industry placement, drawing on TU Dublin's deep ties to Ireland's booming construction and infrastructure sector. Graduates emerge career-ready with a qualification that maps directly onto the chartered-engineer route.
Sri Lankan applicants choose TU Dublin for an internationally accredited engineering degree, English-medium delivery, and Ireland's strong infrastructure job market — at fees below comparable UK or Australian programmes. Students from Sri Lankan Physical Science A/L streams (with Combined Maths and Physics) are well matched, and the applied, placement-driven approach suits those who want practical engineering training. Ireland's 2-year graduate stay-back (Third Level Graduate Programme for honours-degree graduates) and Critical Skills route open a clear path to professional practice and residence in the EU.

Career Outcomes & PR
Ireland's Third Level Graduate Programme lets honours-degree graduates stay up to 2 years to seek work, converting to a Critical Skills or General Employment Permit. TU Dublin civil-engineering graduates are recruited by Arup, Jacobs, John Sisk, Roadbridge, and Ireland's large public-infrastructure programme, and the degree maps to Engineers Ireland chartership. Civil and structural engineers feature on Ireland's Critical Skills Occupations List. The Washington-Accord accreditation makes the qualification portable back to Sri Lanka and globally.
