Course Overview

The University of Guelph's Bachelor of Commerce in Hospitality and Tourism Management is delivered through the Lang School of Business and Economics — Guelph is Canada's leading hospitality and food-systems university, with origins as the Ontario Agricultural College (1874). The BComm HTM is one of the longest-running hospitality undergraduate programmes in Canada (founded 1969), and the Lang School's Hospitality and Tourism Management department is consistently ranked top 3 in Canada by industry surveys. The 4-year programme combines core business (accounting, marketing, finance, organisational behaviour) with hospitality specialisations: hotel and resort operations, restaurant and food-service management, tourism destination management, events management, and revenue management. The optional Co-op stream adds 5 paid work terms across 4-5 years (graduates leave with 16-20 months of paid industry experience).

Sri Lankan A-Level / IB applicants choose Guelph for the price-quality balance: Canadian tuition is significantly lower than US Ivy hospitality programmes, the Co-op stream means students earn CAD 18-25/hour during placements (CAD 30,000-40,000 income over the degree), and Guelph's industry pipeline runs through Fairmont, Four Seasons, Marriott, Accor (Toronto/Montreal/Banff/Whistler clusters), plus the Greater Toronto Area food-service industry. Canada's PGWP gives 3 years post-study work and a clear Express Entry route to PR.
