Bachelor of Nursing
Deakin University
Course Overview
Deakin's Bachelor of Nursing is a three-year, ANMAC-accredited (Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council) degree delivered at the Burwood (Melbourne), Waurn Ponds (Geelong) and Warrnambool campuses. Students complete 800+ clinical placement hours across Barwon Health, Eastern Health, Western Health, and rural Victorian hospitals. On graduation students are eligible for AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) registration as a Registered Nurse.
This is one of the most actively-recruited degrees by Australian Skilled Migration: Registered Nurse is on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), which means a clear pipeline to the 482 Temporary Skill Shortage visa, employer sponsorship and permanent residency for graduates. For Sri Lankan applicants the path is usually: 3-year Bachelor → AHPRA registration → 485 post-study work visa → state-nominated 190/491 visa. Deakin has run nursing pathway support for South Asian students for over 15 years.
