RMIT University
Course Overview
RMIT's Bachelor of Information Technology is a three-year ACS (Australian Computer Society) accredited degree run out of the City campus on Swanston Street, central Melbourne. Year 1 covers programming, web tech, databases and computing infrastructure; year 2 lets students major in one of cloud technologies, application development, software systems engineering, or cybersecurity; year 3 includes the Industry Experience capstone (12-week placement at firms like Telstra, ANZ, Medibank, NAB, REA Group).
RMIT is the top-3 most-applied-to Australian uni by Sri Lankan students for IT, alongside Monash and UNSW. The reasons: ACS accreditation gives a direct PR pathway through ACS Skills Assessment, Melbourne CBD location for placement access, and a guaranteed AUD 4,500 international scholarship for any A/L holder with 3As. Bachelor of IT graduates are eligible for the 485 Temporary Graduate Visa for 2-4 years post-study work.
