Course Overview
Heriot-Watt University Dubai delivers the same Scottish degree as its Edinburgh home campus — the parchment makes no distinction between locations — and its BA (Hons) Interior Design is taught at the purpose-built Dubai Knowledge Park campus. The studio-based programme covers spatial design, materiality and detailing, lighting, technical drawing, digital tools (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe suite), and live commercial briefs. Heriot-Watt's design school has a strong reputation for employability, and Dubai's relentless hospitality, retail, and residential development pipeline gives students live access to one of the world's busiest interiors markets.
Sri Lankan applicants are drawn to Dubai because it is a four-hour flight from Colombo, fees run roughly half those of a UK campus, and the UAE Green Visa offers a five-year post-study residency pathway. Most Sri Lankan Edexcel and Cambridge International applicants meet entry directly, and a creative portfolio strengthens the application.
