BA (Hons) English
University of Malta
Course Overview
The University of Malta — the EU's English-speaking Mediterranean university — offers a 3-year BA (Hons) in English through its Faculty of Arts. The programme covers English literature from the medieval period to the contemporary, linguistics and the English language, literary theory, and creative and critical writing, taught entirely in English in a small-cohort, seminar-rich environment. Malta's bilingual, English-official status makes it a natural setting for an English-language humanities degree at a fraction of UK costs.
Sri Lankan applicants — A/L school-leavers and IB graduates with a literature or languages interest — choose Malta for: an English-medium EU Bachelor's degree, far lower tuition and living costs than the UK, a safe English-speaking environment, and Malta's post-study work pathway within the EU. The BA suits those targeting teaching, publishing and editing, content and communications, the cultural sector, and postgraduate study in the humanities or education.
