Study abroad from Kandy
මහනුවර · கண்டி
Sri Lanka's second city is one of our biggest sources of applicants — mostly through WhatsApp and phone, with a single Colombo visit for document verification. We don't have a Kandy office: read on for how we make the long-distance counselling work.
How we work
We don't have an office in Kandy — here's what we do instead
Our nearest office to you is in Colombo (~115 km, ~3 hours by car). Most of the application is done remotely — only document verification and visa biometrics require an in-person visit.
WhatsApp + phone
First conversation is on WhatsApp. We then move to a phone call with the student (and parents if they want). Shortlisting, SOP review, scholarship match all happen here — no travel needed.
One visit to Colombo
When your university applications are ready to submit, you visit our Colombo branch once for document verification — originals of transcripts, NIC, passport. The Colombo–Kandy expressway and frequent intercity buses from the Kandy bus stand to Pettah make the trip a single-day visit.
Visa biometric in Colombo
Once your visa file is ready, you visit the VFS centre in Colombo for biometric capture. We book the slot, prepare the file, and walk you through what to bring. Same trip for every student in Sri Lanka — there's no district-level alternative.

Local advantage
Why Kandy students choose Lanka Scholar
We know the Kandy school profile
Students from Trinity, Dharmaraja, Mahamaya, Kingswood, Hillwood and Peradeniya feed into our pipeline year-round. We understand A-L grading patterns from Central Province schools and how they map to UK / Australian / US entry thresholds.
Counselling without the commute
Most Kandy applicants complete 90% of the process from home — WhatsApp shortlist, phone shortlist call, online SOP drafting. The Colombo trip is reserved for the day we need original certificates in hand.
Bilingual paperwork support
Parent meetings can run in Sinhala or English; for estate-Tamil families from the Kandy hills, we route to a counsellor who is fluent in Tamil. Family alignment matters in Central Province — we plan for it.
