Monash International Merit Scholarship
The Monash International Merit Scholarship is a renewable AUD 10,000 per year award for high-achieving international students joining undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programmes at Monash University. The award is paid for the duration of your programme provided you maintain a strong WAM each year. Sri Lankan applicants from Colombo, Peradeniya, Moratuwa, SLIIT, NSBM, IIT and similar institutions are well represented in past cohorts.

Offer for Eligible Monash Programme
Hold an offer for an eligible Monash undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programme at the Australian campuses (Clayton, Caulfield, Parkville, Peninsula). Online and Malaysia-campus programmes are excluded.
Strong WAM
Achieve a minimum WAM (Weighted Average Mark) of 80% or equivalent — typically Sri Lankan first-class or strong upper second-class graduates for postgraduate entry. Undergraduate entry requires high A/L results.
International Fee Status
Open to overseas fee-paying students. Sri Lankan citizens applying from Sri Lanka qualify; Australian citizens, permanent residents, and New Zealand citizens do not.
English Proficiency
Meet Monash's standard English requirement — usually IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, with higher thresholds for Education, Medicine, and Law.

Apply for Monash admission
Submit your Monash undergraduate or postgraduate coursework application via the Monash online portal. You need an offer (conditional is fine) before the scholarship round closes.
Complete the scholarship form
Apply via the Monash Scholarships portal — submit a personal statement (500 words on your goals), CV, and academic transcripts.
Faculty merit review
Awards are made on academic merit and the personal statement. Outcomes are released approximately 6-8 weeks after each scholarship round closes.
Maintain WAM to Renew
Renewal each year requires maintaining a WAM of 70% or higher at Monash. Drop below and the award lapses.
