MSc in Financial Technology and Computing
Università della Svizzera italiana (USI)
Course Overview
USI's MSc in Financial Technology and Computing is a joint programme between the Faculty of Informatics and the Faculty of Economics at the Lugano campus — Switzerland's Italian-speaking canton, with a growing fintech and crypto cluster including the 'Crypto Valley' adjacent in Zug. The curriculum blends serious software-engineering and machine-learning depth with quantitative finance, blockchain, smart contracts, and regulatory technology.
Two years, taught entirely in English. Sri Lankan applicants with BSc backgrounds in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Finance (Moratuwa, Colombo UCSC, SLIIT, NSBM, NIBM, IIT, ICBT) are well-placed. USI is smaller than ETH/EPFL but more affordable and accessible — the cohort is highly international and the Lugano fintech ecosystem (Sygnum, Bitcoin Suisse adjacent in Zug, plus traditional Swiss private banks with Lugano offices) recruits actively. Tuition is CHF 2,400/semester (~CHF 4,800/year).
