MSc Environmental Technology
Imperial College London
Course Overview
Imperial's MSc Environmental Technology (housed at the Centre for Environmental Policy) is one of the UK's longest-running and most respected one-year master's in the environment-policy-science triangle. Students pick one of nine specialist streams — Climate Change, Energy Policy, Pollution Management, Ecological Management, Business & Environment, Global Environmental Change, Environmental Economics, Water Management, or Health, Pollution & Toxicology.
The September–September structure suits Sri Lankan applicants who want a fast 12-month qualification before re-entering the regional climate and sustainability job market — or staying in the UK on the Graduate Route. Core terms cover environmental analysis, governance, economics, and risk; the summer is a substantive research project, usually with an industry or NGO partner (UNEP, WWF, Drax, Anglian Water, the Crown Estate, McKinsey Sustainability have all hosted recent cohorts).
Imperial is ranked top-10 globally for Environmental Sciences (QS / THE), and the College's Grantham Institute for Climate Change & the Environment is co-located with the programme — students attend Grantham seminars and have access to its policy networks. This is the highest-ranked applied environmental master's accessible to Sri Lankan applicants without a quantitative PhD background.
