Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH)
Course Overview
POSTECH's MS in Computer Science & Engineering is a two-year research-track Master's at one of Asia's most selective science and technology universities. Pohang sits on Korea's east coast — a small, research-heavy campus where the student-to-faculty ratio is among the best in the world. Sri Lankan applicants accepted into the program join a tight cohort working alongside faculty on AI, systems, security, and theory.
The structure is research-first: you join a lab from day one, take graduate coursework in algorithms, machine learning, and your chosen specialization, and produce a thesis. POSTECH funds almost every graduate student through TA/RA scholarships — full tuition waiver plus a monthly stipend around KRW 1,400,000 — so the program is effectively fully funded for admitted candidates.

Career Outcomes & PR
POSTECH CS graduates feed Samsung Research, LG AI Research, Naver, Kakao, and SK Hynix — Korea's major tech and chaebol R&D arms. Many continue into PhD programs at POSTECH, KAIST, or top US schools (CMU, Stanford, MIT). South Korea's D-10 job-seeker visa gives you 6 months to find work post-graduation, and the E-7 employment visa pathway is well-trodden for STEM Master's holders.
