Course Overview
Lund University's MSc in Industrial Design is taught from the Industrial Design programme at LTH (Lund's faculty of engineering) — a world-class school grounded in the Scandinavian design tradition that gave the world IKEA, Hennes & Mauritz, and a deep culture of human-centred, sustainable product design. The 2-year (120 ECTS) studio-based Master's covers design methodology, user-centred and inclusive design, prototyping and materials, sustainability, and the bridge between design, technology, and business.

Entry Requirements
Academic
- check_circle Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS) in Industrial Design, Product Design, Design Engineering, or a closely-related field.
- check_circle A design portfolio demonstrating product / industrial design ability is required.
- check_circle Sri Lankan applicants with design or engineering degrees (e.g. Moratuwa) and a strong portfolio are competitive.
- check_circle Application via universityadmissions.se — applications open mid-October, deadline January 15, application fee SEK 900.
- check_circle Motivation letter, CV, and certified, translated transcripts.
English Proficiency
- check_circle IELTS Academic: 6.5 Overall (no band below 5.5) — Swedish 'English 6' equivalent.
- check_circle TOEFL iBT: 90 Overall.
- check_circle Cambridge English: C1 Advanced.
- check_circle Programme is taught 100% in English — Swedish not required for the degree.
- check_circle Waived if your Bachelor's was taught and assessed entirely in English (Sri Lankan applicants with English-medium degrees qualify with an MOI letter).

Career Outcomes & PR
Graduates qualify for Sweden's 12-month post-study residence permit to job-search, converting to a work permit at a qualifying offer. Industrial Design graduates work at IKEA, Electrolux, Sony Mobile (Lund), Volvo, Ericsson, and design consultancies across Scandinavia, plus UX / service-design roles in tech.
